Hello!

My name is Ashley Galbreath, and I am so excited to be joining the Madison Heights Elementary family this year! To help students and their families get the chance to know me a little bit better, I have attached a document below with additional information. Please feel free to check it out and email me with any questions or concerns that you may have.

This year I will be teaching students all about the "Growth Mindset". This is a way of thinking that shows students how to problem solve and to be persistent when trying to achieve a goal. It puts the emphasis on learning how to do something and overcoming the challenges it takes to succeed, rather than "getting it" or "not getting it". Though I will be sending home many handouts on the growth mindset, please feel free to check out the link below in order to get an idea of what we will be doing here at school. We would love to see it being implemented at home as well!

I can be contacted via the email address or phone number listed at the top of this page. I can also be contacted using the "Remind" app or website. This is a messanger app that allows me to send out reminders whole-class, send and receieve messages to/from parents, etc. It's free to join and easy to use. In order to sign up for reminders and notifications from me this year, please either visit rmd.at/galbreath2 or text @galbreath2 to the number 81010.

Newsletters will come home in your student's Monday folder each week, but will also be posted as a link at the bottom of this page to keep you up to date on what is going on within the school and the classroom. Please feel free to write notes in your student's agenda to let me know of any transportation changes or anything else you think would be beneficial for me to be aware of. I will check agendas regularly and will get in contact with you if needed.

Thank you for allowing me the chance to get to know, love on, and teach your children each day. Being the adult they work with for nearly 7 hours a day, 5 days a week is a responsibility I do not take lightly. This year we will continue grow into a classroom family full of eager, confident, and well-rounded young learners!

Thanks in advance for all of your support this year. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Together, we can make a difference!

NIGHTLY WORD STUDY HOMEWORK:

Monday- Sort and write your words in your spelling journal. Then box the feature in each word. (Example: If one of your features is words that have an ai, you would put a box around the letters "ai" in the word "rain".)

Tuesday- Sort and write your words in your spelling journal. Then color code your feature. Features should be traced in one color, and any additional letters in each word should be traced in a different color.

Wednesday- Sort and write your words in your spelling journal. Then do a practice spelling test. Have an adult read the words out while the child spells and sorts them. Test is tomorrow so this is a great practice activity.

Thursday- Test. No homework tonight.

Friday- New words are given.
